“My favorite children’s book when I grew
up was “Carlson on the Roof” by
Astrid Lindgren. Comparing to Pippi
Longstocking, Carlson is a lesser-known book. But it is as good,
if not better. It is a story about a beautiful friendship
between a boy and a little man who lived on the roof of the
boy’s building, and wore a propeller on his back. He flew in
unexpectedly into the boy’s window one day, and from then on
became the boy’s best friend. Carlson was an adorable creature.
He wore overalls buttoned on one side, and had an enormous
appetite for sweets. He loved to make up stories, and believed
in them. He would put the boy on his back, and fly with him from
one roof to another. What fun! The only problem was – every time
the boy wanted to introduce Carlson to his friends and family,
he would disappear as fast as he could. So everybody thought the
stories about Carlson were the boy’s fantasies. Nobody believed
him. But one day … “ – Tatiana Zunshine,

"I loved the Malory Towers and St. Clare books by Enid Blyton.
Both series were about English boarding schools. Both featured
main characters who were good students, friends, and citizens.
They were formulaic (similar to the formula used for Harry
Potter today), and I ate them up. There was always the really
good main character (Darryl at Malory Towers and the twins at
St. Clare's), a friend who cuts up and plays pranks, someone who
is really good at something (math, art, sports), and one who is
a total creep.
I loved reading about these kids who lived away from home, wore
uniforms,
and had midnight feasts. Everything sounded so exotic (ginger
beer and tins
of things). I recently ordered reprints of many of these books
because my copies are so worn and well-loved." - Janee
"My favorite book as a child was one I don't remember the title
of. It
was about a mouse and a whale. I only asked my mom to read it
once in
a while because it was so very sad. If anyone knows the title of
that
book, please let me know." - Jerry Seltzer
"The title WHERE IS HELEN. What the book was about A YOUNG
GIRL WHO DIED AND WAS BURIED SOMEWHERE DIFFERENTLY THEN HER
PARENTS AND SHE WANTED TO BE WITH THEM. What did you like
about it IT WAS A VERY WELL WRITTEN STORY TO ME." - MICHELLE,
