Children's Book:
The Flower Ball
There is a big stir in the vegetable garden - Cauliflower and
Carrot want to go to the Flower Ball. The other vegetables are
scandalized: vegetables at the Flower Ball? What are Cauliflower
and Carrot thinking?
At the Ball the flowers are indignant over this strange
brushwood at their fragrant party! But Cauliflower and Carrot
are self-confident, and don’t hesitate to dance a snazzy
Snap-Bean Rumba, a breezy Cucumber Tango, and a Chili-Pepper
Cha-Cha-Cha. The two of them make a beautiful sight, and,
despite themselves, the flowers applaud.
Soon the beautiful Marigold and a charming Willow Catkin join
them; the other flowers open up their buds, and a
vegetable-and-flower friendship has grown!
"A moral tale whose decor
is just as impeccable as its lesson" - Publishers Weekly
"Children will be charmed and
encouraged by this unusual flight of floral fancy."-
School Library Journal
"Whimsical and beautifully
drawn" - Scholastic Parent & Child

The Love For Three Oranges
Take a
prince who cannot laugh, a witch who curses him with a
consuming passion for not one but three oranges, a devil
with magic bellows, a rat, and a giant cook; place the whole
thing in a fairytale kingdom and you have one of the most
surreal masterworks written for children: The Love for Three
Oranges...
This
children's story is a combination of humor, fantasy, and a
little bit of grotesquery. And of course it’s a tale of love for
THREE VERY LARGE ORANGES – for everyone to enjoy!
"[T]he
fairy tale is gracefully told, but the elegant illustrations by
Polish artist Gaudasinska steal the show."

"Children (and adults) willing
to set aside logic for a time will enjoy themselves mightily" -
Kirkus Review

Children's Book:
The Boy and the Spell
"Time,
I hate time. I wish there were no such thing called time!"
Having trouble with homework, Thomas takes out his frustration
on the things around him—his books, his clock, his furniture.
But one afternoon, Armchair bellows, “My stuffing has had
enough!” Armchair blows Thomas “clear out of this world…into a
strange place in time,” where numerals scatter, book characters
come alive, and cakes fight back.
Will Thomas ever return home?
The Boy and
the Spell
is adapted from the opera L’Enfant et les Sortileges (1925) by
prominent French composer Maurice Ravel, with a libretto by
Colette. Scholars have compared this opera to Maurice Sendak’s
Where the Wild Things Are; Sendak himself created the set
designs and costumes for the production of this opera staged in
the late twentieth century.
Whimsically illustrated by Italian artist Serena Riglietti, The
Boy and the Spell has been selected for the Bologna Children’s
Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition. The adaptation is written by
an award-winning children’s author Pegi Deitz Shea.

Silly Horse
Kids love absurd and silly lyrics and subjects in poems and
songs. They are enchanted by funny or
impossible suggestions, like teaching goats to sing or cracking
nuts with a telescope. This whimsical collection of poetry,
Silly Horse by Vadim Levin with illustrations by Evgeny
Antonenkov, will delight children with its colorful pictures and
amusing rhymes.
Initially published in Russia in 1969, Silly Horse became an
instant children's book bestseller because of its unusual
linguistic style - the Russian poems were written to sound as
though they had been translated from British English. The
comical children's story poems in Silly Horse fooled thousands
of children and their parents with their Russian flavor and
British style, some even becoming the lyrics to popular
Russian songs.
"Levin's
humorous, memorable poems, long enjoyed by Russian children, may well become new
favorites of English readers" -
Publishers Weekly
Children's Book:
A Little Story about a Big Turnip
Drawing from the history of Russian verbal art, this
children's book, prized among children's stories, about a family
that must work together is an adaptation of a Russian children's
folk tale.
In this story, treasured among children's books, when the
grandfather has trouble plucking a turnip from his garden, it
takes the help of the entire family including grandmother,
granddaughter, dog, cat, and mouse to dislodge it.
Rhythm and melody work in combination with a clever
refrain and comical, vivid watercolor drawings to make this
children's book lyrically and visually entertaining."
"Authors breathe new life into classic myths and folklore,
for everyone from picture book fans on up to teenage readers" -
Publishers Weekly
"The
illustrations are humorous and have lots of appeal" -
School Library Journal
